Angel began playing at the age of nine years in his hometown Adjuntas in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. At the age of 15 he was signed by the Adjuntas Giants team, professional team of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation where despite his height, 6'3", played as a middle blocker.He played for 10 years with the team where year after year he becomes part of the professional league All Stars Team.

He also won several awards for best middle blocker of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation for 7 years. At the age of 17 Angel was chosen to represent Puerto Rico in the First World Youth Volleyball Championship held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where his team placed fourth.

Several years after, Angel join the Men’s National Volleyball Team of Puerto Rico as he continued playing in the professional league and representing his island at various events. Among the events that he participated include: Nocerca 1993, New Orleans, USA - Central American and Caribbean Games where he won a silver medal, Ponce, Puerto Rico, 1996 Norceca Caguas, Puerto Rico among others.

While in the National Team, Angel played against several international pillars volleyball teams like Cuba, Russia, USA and Brazil. Angel continued his career with the team Moca Rebels playing with them for 8 years where he participated in two championship finals becoming a Champion of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation in 2000. He also played with the team The New Giants of Carolina, returned for a year to the Adjuntas team and retired playing for the Lares Patriots.

He played several years in the National Tour of beach volleyball where he participated in a World Championship in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Next, was certified as an international volleyball coach level 1 through the International Volleyball Federation. He led the team Lares Patriots and Adjuntas Giants coaching in the Puerto Rican Pro-League and participated in different categories and clubs across the island.

Angel also coached at NJCAA level in 2015-2017 at College of Central Florida and was named coach of the year in 2017.
